The School of English Language and Literature

OVERVIEW

The School of English Language and Literature

At Marian Academy of Management Studies, the Department of English is dedicated to excellence in English language and literature education. Our mission is to impart English language skills through modern communicative teaching techniques, a profound understanding of literary traditions, and critical practices. We aim to foster the personal and professional growth of our students through the guidance of exceptionally qualified and proficient educators.

Our teaching pedagogy is designed to be dynamic, inclusive, interactive, and collaborative. We emphasize gamification, reduced teacher talk time, and more activity-oriented approaches, including peer teaching and addressing contemporary issues and interdisciplinary connections. This ensures a well-rounded academic experience. Initially, we categorize students based on their CEFR level, from Pre-A1 to C2, through the Oxford Placement Test, and provide appropriate training for language enhancement. By introducing the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) method, we give equal importance to both receptive and productive skills. We strictly follow the Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) methods to create a tension-free learning environment, emphasizing activities over lectures. We collect evidence every hour to assess students’ understanding levels.
